Worktop templating and installation: plan the handover

A practical sequence for a worktop project, including readiness questions, layout approval, delivery, fitting and care handover.

Agree the sequence with us

Ask for the stages of your particular project in writing. A useful planning sequence is specification, readiness check, templating, layout approval, fabrication, delivery, fitting and handover. We confirm the exact order and dates for your job.

For a replacement, establish when the old worktop is removed and who coordinates any periods without water or cooking facilities.

Before the template appointment

Request a readiness list from the templater. Check cabinet installation, appliance and sink information, finished wall details and the availability of anything needed to establish openings. Avoid changing a sink or hob after approval without checking the consequences.

Before fabrication

Ask to approve the material reference, finished dimensions, edge details, joints, cut-outs and any vein direction that matters to you. Keep the dated approval and ask how changes affect the price and schedule.

Before delivery and fitting

Agree access, parking arrangements, protection of the route and the responsibilities of other trades. For a Bath property, include the address, unloading space and delivery route in your installation plan.

At handover

Review the installation with us and record any outstanding items. Obtain care instructions, product details, warranty terms and contact arrangements for any later concern. The care guide can help you organise the documents.

A good project starts with a clear brief
