Buying guide

What should a stone worktop quote include?

Understand stone worktop costs for a Bath project: material specification, fabrication, fitting, removal and the questions that make quotes comparable.

Compare the whole project price

A price per square metre is a starting point, not necessarily the amount needed to complete a kitchen. Ask whether a figure covers only the surface, a specified fabricated set of pieces, or a fully installed project.

To get a useful quote, provide a plan and request a written breakdown with the date, validity period and tax treatment.

Your quotation checklist

ItemWhat to make explicit
SurfaceManufacturer or stone identification, colour, finish and thickness
LayoutEach run, island, upstand, splashback and proposed joint
FabricationSink/hob cut-outs, tap holes, grooves and edge profile
ServiceTemplating, delivery, fitting and access arrangements
Associated workRemoval, disposal, plumbing, appliance connections and making good
Commercial termsVAT, deposit, payment stages, exclusions and change charges

Change one decision at a time

If a quote exceeds your budget, request an alternative material or finish while keeping the layout fixed. Then compare a simpler edge, reduced splashback area or a revised layout as separate options. This makes it easier to see what each choice changes.

Do not assume a thinner surface always produces a cheaper completed installation. Ask what fabrication and support are required for the proposed detail.

Send us your project details

Use our project brief to tell Bath Stone Worktops what you have in mind. Include approximate measurements, your preferred material and a kitchen plan or photos with your email. For replacement work, use the replacement checklist to avoid omissions outside the stone itself.
